Plant Army

Defend my Ring Farm Starter Plants and Early Roles

The faces in the official art, and the tiles they should actually occupy.

Starter Plants

Before you own a laser beet, you own a cartoon vegetable with a weapon. This page names the starter-visible roster so you can fill roles without waiting on a datamine. Pair it with the plant army hub and the tier list.

Sword carrot

Orange, blade in hand, stands in the farmyard shot with corn and a shield plant while zombies crowd the foreground. Role: melee. Plant on the dirt contact. Replace with Bloodlit Carrot on the busiest lane when NIGHT pays out. Keep extras as hole-fillers, not as a five-carrot army.

Corn

Yellow kernel body, projectile or sling in the gallery. Role: mid-range. One tile behind melee. This is the plant that makes tutorial hour survivable. If your first rolls ignore corn while you already have a carrot, keep rolling using how to get seeds.

Grapes

Purple cluster with a bow, often on the far side of a zombie in the action shot. Role: backline ranged. Further back than corn. If you must pick one ranged to keep, grapes scale better into packed waves because they stay off the contact tile.

Shield tuber

Blocky brown-orange plant holding a shield in the same farmyard composition. Role: tank. Pinch of the path. One is a luxury in hour one and a requirement once waves clump. It does not need a Night skin to be useful.

Laser beet (goal, not a starter)

The overview shot is a giant red beet drawing beams through a zombie knot while a straw-hat farmer watches. You probably will not roll this in the tutorial. It is on this page so you recognize the goal and do not sell it thinking it is a decoration. When it drops, face it at clumps. Until then, grapes do the grown-up job.

Straw-hat farmer

Overalls, rake energy, stands in the overview. That is you (or a farm NPC), not a seed. Rolling will not produce a second avatar to AFK for you. Offline earnings come from plants, documented in make money.

First-week lineup

Front: Bloodlit or sword carrot.
Mid: corn.
Back: grapes.
Pinch: shield tuber.
Dream: laser beet on the bunch point.

If a slot is empty, a C-tier common is better than air. Expansion tiles from a Money Potion spend are the usual empties — fill them before the next wave (how to defend).

What starters are not

They are not Build a Ring Farm wheat with a 3-second grow time. They are not pets. They do not inherit a 19x outer multiplier from a different wiki. If a video overlays those numbers on this game’s HUD, close it.

Controls for planting: controls. Session order: getting started. When Night adds another face, it will get its own page rather than stretching this starter list past what art supports.

Why the art is the roster

Memories Game has not shipped a public index with grow times and gold values for this title. What they did ship is three gallery shots that function like a class poster:

  • Farmyard lineup: carrot, corn, shield tuber, zombies in the foreground.
  • Path fight: carrot, corn, grapes, a purple-sword zombie, a downed purple brute.
  • Overview: laser beet, graves, farmer, mixed plants holding a knot of undead.

If a unit is not in those shots and not named by a code, we do not invent it. That is why this starter list is short on purpose. A long fake table would mix this game with the harvest tycoon and then fail facts checks the moment someone notices wheat.

When you roll something new, screenshot it and compare weapons. Blade → melee contact. Bow or sling → backline. Shield → pinch. Beam → clump. Unknown sparkle → plant it on a hole until we name it, then move it once the tier list updates. Empty tiles lose waves faster than a mystery common does.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for codes, waves, and plant rolls.

What should my first three plants be?

One melee (Bloodlit or sword carrot), one ranged (corn or grapes), and a filler on any empty path tile.

Is corn better than grapes?

Corn is easier to use as mid-range. Grapes belong further back and help more once waves pack.

Should I wait to plant until I roll a beet?

No. Empty tiles lose waves. Plant starters now; keep the beet if it ever drops.

Can the farmer fight?

You can walk around, but the army is the plants. Do not unplant units to “make room for the farmer.”
